Since the conception of society, law enforcement bodies have existed to protect citizens from crooks or to maintain the status quo and keep leaders in power. Dating back to Biblical times, there were military personnel tasked to maintain peace and order. In Egypt, for example, a pharaoh ruled the land and soldiers chased the Israelites throughout the Red Sea. There were other societies with military hierarchies as well, like the Babylonian, the Syrian, and the Palestinian societies, amidst others.

The most prominent of all military organizations was that of the Roman Empire. They had a very effective and brutal form of law enforcement that they used to maintain peace and order. It was the Romans who introduced the illfamed symbol of the crucifix. The Romans never in truth had an actual police organization. It was only in the fifth century that clan chiefs and heads of state were tasked to police the humans underneath their care.

London was the initial to hire salaried enforcers back in 1663. Afterwards, the trend disseminate all over the United Kingdom. It was only in June of 1800, that the authorities of Glasgow, Scotland were competent to establish the City of Glasgow Police. They were the primary professional police enforcers that practiced preventive policing. In 1829, the Metropolitan Police Act was passed by Parliament. This established the initial civil police strength and the model applied by a great deal of countries today, including the United States. Outside of the United Kingdom, the Gibraltar Police was the initial police service in 1830. In 1721, Spain formed Mossos d’Esuadra in Catalonia. In 1834, the Toronto Police was founded in Canada. It was one of the original police departments in North America. The original full-time police strength in United States was the Boston Police Department in 1839.

5Modern Bounty Hunting: A Real-Life Guide for the Bail Fugitive Recovery Agent
By Ronni
For anyone wanting information into the fugitive recovery and bail enforcement field, this book is a great start. Rex Vinator (author) gives great insight into the new laws governing bail enforcement. I think this book is the best book in its class towards starting a business in the recovery business. After reading this book I went out and caught my first skip after only three weeks. GET THIS BOOK.

4Very informative
By J. Hartzell
I have spent years in the legal system as a cop, corrections officer, security officer, and now the owner of a Bail Bond and Private Investigations agency. I read the book expecting to hear the same old stuff that wouldn’t apply to my state or the obvious that I had already learned from my own experience. I was happy to see that this book provided information that did help in my own business and that the author gave a lot of good advice that applied to any state that you might work in. All in all I think that this book is a good read for new agents and veteran agents alike.

3Good technical Manual
By Matthew B. Bozin
The book is a “by the numbers” manual on how to become a Bounty Hunter. It is what it is, but I think I was looking for more of a story, or anecdotal book.
